Will you go on a stand-up paddle board to fish waste from the Piushaven?
Hostel Roots organizes a “Clean-up SUP session” on the water in the Piushaven. The planned dates have been canceled due to bad weather (this was on both Wednesday May 15 and Monday May 27). Follow our instagram page for the latest update.

On the water or along the quay
Hostel Roots itself offers stand-up paddle boards to participate in this clean-up free of charge. If you own a board, it is advisable that you bring it with you, so that as many people as possible can get on the water. Are you inexperienced on a stand-up paddle board, are you afraid of water, don't have a swimming diploma or are we already full and would you still like to contribute to this clean-up? Then join us for a walk to collect waste along the quay. We start at 2.30 pm at 'de Werf' near the ferry at the Piushaven, after which a 'clean-up' takes place while sailing or walking towards the city.

Sustainability and Hostel Roots
This clean-up action is in line with the theme of sustainability, which Hostel Roots will continue to do more actively and consciously in the coming years. The team has been working on this theme since the start in 2017. For example, a large part of our interior is second-hand, and scrap wood has been used for the reception, bar and benches. We do not sell plastic single-use water bottles, but Roots Doppers and linen bags. Hostel Roots also tries to make interns part of the permanent team after their internship period. The monumental building, which is not an energy-efficient building in itself, is also being examined to make it more sustainable, as well as more recycling and reducing waste.
